Welcome, everyone. I can’t begin to express how delighted I am that you’re here.
I'm going to pin this post to the top as an introduction to who I am and what I do.
Blimey, where to begin. The short story is I produce hyper-local news content from central Auckland in New Zealand. I publish video clips of newsworthy events and conduct on-camera interviews with interesting people, some of which have gone viral globally, affording me a little notoriety. I write on a variety of topics including Australasian politics, geo-politics, society and culture, technology, and my various hobbies and interests. Some of my writing is professional, appearing in publications such as Liberty Itch. The topics of my other writings are, to put it mildly, an eclectic mix.
I don’t subscribe to any particular ideology though I approach topics from a -broadly- egalitarian/libertarian perspective. My publisher in Australia describes me rather facetiously as a subversive, perhaps dissident is more apposite.
My intention for this Substack site is to collate all of the material I produce into one place for consumption by anyone who is interested. I’ll continue, as I have always done, to make it all available gratis but Substack affords people the opportunity to support my work financially through subscription.
My feelings about subscription are evolving, right now the overriding sense is embarrassment. On one hand I believe content creators should be remunerated for the work they do, on the other I firmly believe information wants to be free. I am extremely flattered by those who’ve asked how to support my work: Substack is the mechanism to do it and I am deeply grateful to those who choose to.
Thank you, one and all. I hope you’ll enjoy my content.
