For a while I published a series called Simon Chooses a Fountain Pen. I'd write a description of the pen and the ink I was using that week.
I think people found it hilarious because these were really detailed on a very esoteric and boring topic, including photographs and writing samples. "How could someone write so much about something so utterly mundane?" sort of thing.
But I liked doing it, so I've rebooted the concept. It's now a dedicated segment during my SimonTV LIVE show called 'Fun With Fountain Pens' -playing on the character Sheldon Cooper's segment 'Fun With Flags' in the comedy show The Big Bang Theory.
The creators of TBBT used the segment to demonstrate what a maladjusted turbonerd Sheldon was. I'm doing it for real because I am a maladjusted turbonerd. The segment debuted last night with a Visconti Homo Sapiens pen and Iroshizuku ina-ho ink. This is the intro, which I absolutely laughed my arse off making. It's my voice you're hearing at the key part.
(If you want to watch it on replay the segment is here.)
