People who watched my ludicrous podcast have been encouraging me for months to make some merchandise available, and now it’s here. and it even has a special introductory 25% discount!
Selling merchandise is really more of a lark than anything. I’m pretty sure people only want to buy these for the rarity of such a niche podcast. And let’s face it, my designs are hardly objet d'art.
I have put some thought into these though. All of the designs have been inspired by the production of SimonTV content and by the audience. There are some in-jokes here, often at my expense, for the cognoscenti. There will be more as the show progresses and I add designs.
A variety of different items are available: t-shirts, hoodies, hats. I also added a couple of coffee cups, and here and there I’ve left an Easter Egg of other items.
In terms of the profit I make very little, selling these is more for a laugh than profit making. Here’s the breakdown:
Red Bubble lets me set the margin, which is 20%. When someone buys a t-shirt that works out to about $6. From that amount is subtracted Red Bubble’s service fee, and bank fees, and I pay tax on the remainder. I’m pretty sure (no-one’s bought anything yet so I’m not sure) I’ll be lucky to make fifty cents.
Which on balance isn’t too bad when you think about it, roughly what a third-world child is making per day constructing clothing. And to be fair, that child is way better at it than I am.
So in summary if you think it would be hilarious to own some SimonTV merch, here you go. I would be grateful if you could send me a photograph or even come on the show sometime, wearing it. Wear it someplace nice perhaps. Having fun, with people you care about.
This is SimonTV.
