10,000 Public Service Association (PSA) trade unionists went out on strike today, and 200 of them congregated at Britomart Plaza in downtown Auckland.
The civil service bureaucracy is expected to maintain strict neutrality but the PSA demonstrated their political affiliations by handing out placards in the dual red and green colour scheme of the Labour and Green political parties instead of the PSA’s own orange.
Both the Labour and Green political parties were in attendance, including the Green Party MPs Chloe Swarbrick, Marama Davidson and Ricardo Menendez March. Flags of the International Communist Workers Party, the Rainbow deviants and the Maori separatists were also flying in solidarity.
